Weather Update

Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.  

Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information. 

The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9.  The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.  

Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed.  The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open.  For further updates on college operations, please check this website, call the College Emergency Information Line 212-854-1002 or check AM radio station 1010WINS.

Application Requirements for Lesson Exchange and the Jewish Theological Seminary Double Degree Program

Music Conservatory/Lesson Exchange Programs

The Barnard-Juilliard Lesson Exchange Program

An interested Barnard College applicant must indicate her intention to apply to the Juilliard lesson exchange program on the Barnard Supplement. She must also complete a separate application and audition process with the Juilliard School. Admission to the lesson exchange program is contingent on admission to both programs. (Current Barnard students may also apply to cross-register at the Juilliard School for lessons only.) Students already enrolled in the Juilliard cross-registration program have the opportunity to audition for early admission to the Master of Music Performance program at Juilliard during their junior year. Interested students should review additional requirements for application and audition outlined by The Juilliard School.

The Manhattan School of Music Cross-Registration Program

An interested Barnard College applicant must indicate her intention to apply to the MSM cross-registration program on the Barnard Supplement. She must also complete a separate MSM online application and submit an recorded video audition directly to MSM. Admission to the Barnard College/MSM cross-registration program is contingent on admission to Barnard. Interested students should contact The Manhattan School of Music for more information, including a complete list of required application materials and audition information.  Applicants may also contact Miriam Miller, Admissions Counselor, at memiller@barnard.edu.

Double Degree Program

Barnard-Jewish Theological Seminary Double Degree Program 

A student interested in obtaining a second bachelor of arts degree from the Albert A. List College of Jewish Studies (the undergraduate division of the Jewish Theological Seminary) through the Barnard-JTS double degree program must indicate her intention to apply to the program on the Barnard Supplement. She must also file a separate application with JTS. Interested students should contact JTS for an application and additional information on courses and degree requirements. For the more information, review the current brochure for the List College/Columbia/Barnard double degree program. Please note that students interested in financial aid must follow financial aid application requirements for both Barnard and JTS.  Applicants may also contact Michelle Biller-Levy, Senior Admissions Officer, at mbiller@barnard.edu.

Other Scholars Programs

Athena Leadership Scholars Program

Barnard students of any major may pursue the Athena Leadership Scholars Program. Completion of the program is typically done in conjunction with the College's general educational requirements and major requirements in one of the College's departments or programs. Students who complete the program receive recognition on their transcripts indicating their standing as an Athena Leadership Scholar. Once enrolled, students may declare their intent to participate in the Athena Leadership Scholars Program.
