The Middle Passage Initiative
gives students opportunities to
engage in dialogue across the
Atlantic about the history of the
Middle Passage and the literary
response to that history. With
support from the Gilder and
Ford Foundations, students explore
the complexities of the Middle
Passage in order to heal the
“rupture in the conversations
between Europeans and Africans."
