Graduate Assistants

                               


Barnard employs two Graduate Assistants to supervise computer support on four evenings and all Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  The Graduate Assistants average 17 hours a week (alternating 22 hours / 12 hours); GAs split the operating hours, file schedule with the Associate Director, and cover absences for one another.  Each GA is granted the use of a studio apartment on 110th Street.

The Academic Technologies Graduate Assistant serves as the evening/weekend manager for the department, supervises campus computer labs during evenings and weekends, and handles logistics for the student training sessions. Some of the duties of the GA include answering the Help Desk phone and voicemail, creating tickets, generating reports, providing user support via phone and in person, fielding questions from student employees, monitoring computer labs and assisting students in the labs.  

Qualified candidates will have technical skills in the following areas:  Microsoft Office products, email programs and printer support. Enrollment as a graduate student in an accredited college or university is preferred.  The term of employment begins August 1 and ends May 31. Hours vary from an average of 17  hours per week during the academic semester to 30 hours at the beginning of the semester. The GA will receive a $3300 stipend paid in 10 installments of $330, as well as housing in the Barnard 110th Street residence hall. The GA residence is equipped with a basic PC and Roadrunner service.  The Employment Contract may be renewed annually on the basis of evaluation.
