LAB 8-REDUCTION OVERVIEW:

1. Polarimetry:
Prepare solutions of known concentrations of both camphor and your product.
Measure optical rotations of these solutions.
2. Functional group tests:
a. Perform the chromic acid test for alcohols on 1-butanol, 2-butanol,
t-butanol, camphor, and your product.
b. Perform the 2,4-DNP test for ketones on isoborneol, camphor, methanol,
acetone, and your product.
