Reacting to the Past: Struggle for Palestine

Reacting to the Past game, The Struggle for Palestine

A key component of the Difficult Dialogues initiative at Barnard was the development of a new "Reacting to the Past" game, The Struggle for Palestine, under the direction of Natasha Gill (Research Associate) and Mark C. Carnes (Creator, "Reacting to the Past"). Game materials were developed in collaboration with Neil Caplan, Adjunct Assistant Professor of History at Concordia University, Montreal. Caplan has written extensively on the history of Israeli-Arab relations, most recently The Israel-Palestine Conflict: Contested Histories (Wiley-Blackwell). The Struggle for Palestine game was created to offer students an insight into the origins of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during the period of the British Mandate in Palestine, and especially in the 1930s.
