Supporting an Unsurpassed Education

Barnard parents give to Barnard because they understand the importance of their gifts in enhancing education and student life at the College. By generously supporting the College, Barnard parents—as well as alumnae and friends—enable Barnard to provide the highest quality liberal arts education to promising, high-achieving young women. 

A gift to the fund has an immediate impact on the College. Here’s a sampling of what The Barnard Parents Fund dollars support:

• Day-to-day needs of the College. The Parents Fund supports outstanding professors, student-faculty research, internships, and a vibrant student life including activities for every interest.
• Financial aid. Forty percent of Barnard students receive a financial aid grant directly from Barnard. Gifts to The Parents Fund ensure that we can admit students from diverse backgrounds and financial circumstances.
• The “hidden scholarship.”  Even students whose families pay full tuition receive a 31 percent subsidy of their education, when all costs are considered.

A Note From the Barnard Parents Fund Council Chairs

Dear Barnard Parents,

We feel privileged that our daughter Gabrielle ’12 attends Barnard, an extraordinary college that can boast being the most selective school of its kind. Now, as Gabrielle experiences   her junior year, we are delighted to be able to support Barnard as the 2010-2011 Chairs of The Barnard Parents Fund Council. This is our way to thank the College for preparing our daughter to take her place in the world.

Gifts from parents ensure that our daughters have the best college experience possible and graduate with a superb education, thanks to an accomplished faculty and an outstanding curriculum. Our daughters can select from among 3000 courses. They have access to 2500 possible internships and, according to Princeton Review, the services of the nationally 5th-ranked college Office of Career Services. 

For all they experience—including enduring campus traditions and friendships—we hope that you will consider joining us by making a gift to Barnard this year.
