PROJECT

A big part of Barnard’s investment in the education of the remarkable young women who attend the College is the work to continuously improve and grow the College’s facilities and physical space.

The Nexus embodies the mission, the goals, and the promise of this institution: the design will facilitate and encourage even greater interaction, exchange of ideas, and rigorous and creative thinking by everyone in the Barnard community. The state-of-the-art facilities and event spaces will strengthen the teaching and learning that takes place at the College. And ultimately, the Nexus will enable Barnard to continue in its long tradition of excellence in the liberal arts through expanded academic, cultural, and community programs.

It will achieve this by:

Weiss/Manfredi has been charged with this important project; the architecture firm’s design is both supremely functional and aesthetically pleasing, and considers how the new building will integrate into the existing campus and the Broadway streetscape.
