In 2011, the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and Dance Theater Workshop merged to become New York Live Arts (NYLA), an endeavor meant to create “a place for dance that is vital to the fabric of social and cultural life in New York, America, and beyond.” The Barnard Project, now in its eighth season, is pleased to work with NYLA to connect students to the professional dance world by commissioning premiers from cutting-edge choreographers. This November, students join celebrated artists Nora Chipaumire, Beth Gill, Juliette Mapp, and Reggie Wilson to create and perform powerful, one-of-a-kind works.
