Weather Update

Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.  

Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information. 

The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9.  The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.  

Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed.  The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open.  For further updates on college operations, please check this website, call the College Emergency Information Line 212-854-1002 or check AM radio station 1010WINS.

City Year is a nonprofit organization that unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service, giving them the skills and opportunities to change the world.  As tutors, mentors and role models, these diverse young leaders make a difference in the lives of children and transform schools and neighborhoods.  City Year is a proud member of AmeriCorps.

At City Year's 21 locations across the United States, corps members serve full-time for 10 months, each providing more than 1,700 hours of service.  Corps members serve in schools as tutors, mentors, role models and leaders of after-school programs.  As a City Year corps member, you will help students stay on track and get back on track to graduate by helping them improve course performance, attendance and behavior.  City Year provides real world experiences of incomparable value in terms of personal and professional development.

Barnard Career Development and the New York City Civic Engagement Program are hosting a site visit to City Year's office.  You will have the opportunity to meet current City Year staff and corps members, and learn about volunteer opportunities, internships, and post graduate corps member positions.
