Come to the Ella Weed Room in Milbank Hall on Tuesday, January 24 at 6:30pm to discover how we can mobilize to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service and education. More specifically, urban youth in the U.S. are transforming their communities through service and are uniting with communities from some of the economically poorest countries on the planet, to build schools. Truly sustainable development can be achieved in developing countries by empowering communities to lead projects, build schools and take the first step out of extreme poverty through education.

Light refreshments will be served (catered by PurpleEats). This event is co-hosted by Columbia buildOn and the New York City Civic Engagement Program.
