Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.
Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information.
The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9. The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.
Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed. The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open. GiveWell's mission is to find outstanding giving opportunities and publish the full details of our analysis to help donors decide where to give. In 2011, people gave more than $5 million to our recommended charities based on GiveWell's evaluation.
GiveWell is seeking talented students for the Research Analyst role, which primarily involves investigating charities to determine how to accomplish as much good as possible - a challenging task that requires critical thinking, a variety of different kinds of analysis, and a willingness to constantly re-examine one's approach in light of the fact that little precedent exists for this kind of inquiry. Research Analysts have the opportunity to contribute to all facets of the organization from their first day and can make a big difference to our young, ambitious organization. We currently have a staff of eight and are growing quickly.
GiveWell is looking for seniors for full-time employment after graduation and younger students (primarily juniors) for summer internships. Interested students should attend the info session to learn more. Everyone is welcome to attend, whether or not you are interested in employment.
