Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.
Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information.
The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9. The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.
Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed. The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open. Harlem Hospital Center provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and family support services to the residents of Central Harlem, West Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood.
The hospital is a 286 bed acute care facility and a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, with a full spectrum of specialty services, including a burn unit, an adult intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, a pediatric intensive care unit, and a cardiac care unit.
All Barnard students interested in careers in medicine as well as those interested in other health professions areas are invited to register for the Harlem Hospital Site Visit.
This event is specially geared toward students who are interested in urban health. Are you passionate about learning about the health of under served communities and the role of the physical and social setting in shaping Harlem residents health? If so, join us on a unique tour of Harlem Hospital.
The Chief of Services will give an overview of the departments and conduct the tour. The key departments we will visit during the tour are:
- Pediatrics
- OB/GYN
- Surgery
- Cardiology
