Fall Open House Programs

Barnard’s unique charm is in its contradictions: small and large, college and university, campus and city, all women and coeducational.  The best way to figure out if we are the college for you is to visit. To help you learn more, we invite you to join us for one of two on-campus programs this fall to hear from current students, faculty, administrators and staff.  These programs are a wonderful opportunity to envision what life would be like on our campus.

What are the Open House Programs?

Open House Program Schedule (Tentative)

10:00-11:00am Check-in (on-going). Campus Tours will be available at 9:30 for early arrivals. Students may also select a class ticket at this time.
Tour will depart from the Diana Center: Lobby

Program formally begins

11:00–11:45am Introduction to Barnard College and Admissions 101, Diana Center: Event Oval

11:45–12:30pm Support at Barnard Panel, Diana Center: Event Oval

12:30–1:10pm Lunch, Diana Center or Lehman Lawn

1:10–2:25pm Visit a class (ticket required) OR The Many Voices of Barnard Panel, Diana Center: Event Oval

2:40–3:55pm Visit a class (ticket required) OR Academic Life at Barnard Panel, Diana Center: Event Oval

4:10–5:25pm Visit a class (ticket required) OR Campus Tour, Departs from the Diana Center: Lobby

Please note:  Because of the volume of students who will be on campus for Open House, we ask that you limit your class visit selection to one option.  If you end up making another visit to the Barnard campus at another time, we welcome you to visit another class at that time.  Class visits are open to prospective students only.

How do I RSVP?

Registration for both Open House Programs are now closed.

What happens if I missed the RSVP deadline?  Can I still attend Open House?

If you did not register for Open House in advance, we will likely be able to accommodate your interest in attending as a walk in. We will ask you for your name and some additional contact information when you arrive. Please plan to stay for the full program, including the two post-lunch panels!

Are parents invited?

Of course, they are!  We are happy to see parents, guardians, even sibilings join you in your visit to campus.  We must, however, restrict class visits to students only.

Are tours available?

Campus tours are available during check in at 9:30 AM and at 4:10 PM at the end of the formal program.

Can I stay overnight?

We regret that we are unable to officially accommodate an overnight visit during the fall, but we do offer the opportunity for admitted students to stay overnight during our spring on-campus admitted student programs. (Contact a Barnard friend if you would like to unofficially stay overnight.)

Will I see a class?

When you check in for the program on campus, you will have the opportunity to pick a "ticket" for a class during one of the prescheduled times available. Note from the tentative schedule that panel times are aligned with class times, so you will have some choices to make!

Can I visit any class or more than one?

The availability of tickets match spaces available in classes and are limited, so we must limit students to only one class visit during their Open House visit. You will pick your "ticket" upon check in. We are unable to offer the opportunity for parents to attend a class.
