The College considers requests from Barnard faculty, staff, and administrators to rent space on campus for Personal Life Events (e.g. birthday parties, wedding receptions, family celebrations). The rental rate covers the minimum cost incurred by the College for space usage and related set-up requirements.
Space for Personal Life Events will be considered when there are no conflicts with the academic calendar or with College events and when resources are available.
Employees granted space for Personal Life Events are responsible for the costs related to additional event services such as audiovisual equipment and support, security, hospitality support, decorations, and catering. If catering service is required, a caterer must be selected from one of the Barnard College approved caterers.
The employee organizing the Personal Life Event is considered the event organizer. As such, the event organizer should provide contact information in case there are concerns or questions both prior to the event and on the day of the event. The event organizer must also be present throughout the event, including set-up and break down times.
At the end of the event, all trash must be disposed of properly and the event space should appear as it was found.
Employees interested in requesting space should send Events Management details about the proposed event below.
Questions about Personal Life Events should be directed to Lillian Appel, Director of Major Events and Programs, lappel@barnard.edu.
