Ronald Briggs

Assistant Professor of Spanish and Latin American Cultures

Ronald Briggs, Assistant Professor of Spanish and Latin American Cultures, joined Barnard's faculty in 2008, having taught at Bard College, Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus, and New York University.

Working from a focus on the intellectual and artistic currents that shaped independence rhetoric in Spanish America and the U.S., Briggs has written on the Venezuelan educational reformer Simón Rodríguez and other essayists of the period. His interests include enlightenment philosophy, educational theory, and the development of the essay.
