Sharon J. Everson

Chair of the Department of Physical Education
Sharon J. Everson, senior associate in physical education and chair of the department of physical education, has taught at Barnard since 1981. She specializes in individual sports and has taught such courses as archery, badminton, fencing, golf, and weight training. She has teaching certifications from the National Archery Association and the National Golf Teachers Association.
Ms. Everson is a three-time champion on the United States Fencing Association's National Women's Foil Team.
She is the president of the National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association and vice-chair of the Fencing Officials Commission of the United States Fencing Association and frequently serves as referee for national and international fencing events.
Ms. Everson has received the Founder's Award from the National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association and the Barnard Medal of Distinction.
