Maire Jaanus

Professor of English

Maire Jaanus, Professor of English and Comparative Literature, joined Barnard’s faculty in 1968. 
Her specializations include nineteenth-century comparative literature, especially romantic and the novel; twentieth-century global English literature; literary theory, especially psychoanalytic (Lacanian); and postmodernism.

Professor Jaanus has been the recipient of the Vilis Vitols Prize, the Harvard Ruskin Prize, a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship, and a Fulbright Fellowship.
