Christian M. Rojas
Associate Professor of Chemistry

Christian M. Rojas, associate professor of chemistry, joined the Barnard faculty in 1997 after completing an NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Scripps Research Institute.
Professor Rojas's research interests focus on new methods for incorporating nitrogen into organic molecules and application of these methods to the synthesis of amino sugars.
His work is currently supported (2007-10) by a National Institutes of Health grant entitled "Amidoglycosylation Reactions of Glycal Metallanitrenes." In the previous funding period of this continuing grant, he obtained an NIH Research Supplement for Underrepresented Minorities to support the work of a Barnard student who went on to work as a chemist at Merck & Co. and is currently in the New York City Teaching Fellows program.
