FIRST-YEAR - CLASS OF 2013
(including Barnard Opportunity Program applicants)

Applicants who need supplemental funds to cover College costs are encouraged to apply for financial aid from Barnard. The decision of the Committee on Admissions to admit a student is not affected by the fact that a student has applied for or demonstrated need for financial aid. All information submitted by the student and her family in support of her application for financial aid is treated with utmost confidentiality. Parents and students should be aware that financial aid awards may vary among colleges due not only to differences in cost (tuition, fees, room, board), but also due to differences in loan and job expectations and evaluation guidelines and policies. Therefore, if a student receives an award from Barnard that is substantially different from that of another college, we encourage her to call and discuss the difference between the awards. In cases where the information on the original application was inaccurate, incomplete, or changed since it was provided, the financial aid committee will re-evaluate the original aid award based on the revised information. Please refer to the section titled Request for Reconsideration . Entering first-year students are notified of financial aid decisions when they are notified of admission.

Barnard Opportunity Program (BOP) Scholars applicants should complete the same financial aid application forms as regular decision applicants. Click here for more information about BOP.

All 2008 paper documentation must be sent to the College Board's Institutional Document Service (IDOC), PO Box 4017, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864, rather than to financial aid directly. The IDOC site is not available for the 2009-2010 academic year until February 2009.

Refer to the IDOC Frequently Asked Questions section to assist you with the IDOC procedures.
