Dean Young came to Barnard in 2008 and moved from the Office of the Dean of Studies to the Provost's Office in 2009. As Dean for Study Abroad she advises students as they determine whether, where and how they should study abroad. She helps students to incorporate their study abroad experience into their overall Barnard education – both practically and theoretically. She also advises first-year, sophomore and visiting international students. Dean Young earned her BA in International Politics and Economics and an MA in French, both from Middlebury College. She spent her own junior year of undergraduate studies in France studying at Reid Hall, the University of Paris X at Nanterre and L'Institut d'Etudes Politiques. Dean Young has spent 8 years living and working in Africa. She has traveled extensively around that continent and the world. Dean Young began her international career as a Teacher Trainer for the Peace Corps in Madagascar. She was later named Country Director of the School for International Training's study abroad programs in Madagascar, Senegal and South Africa. She came to us from the University of Connecticut's Office of Study Abroad.

Rachel Romesburg joined the International Programs team in August 2010. Rachel is the coordinator for all incoming VISP students, helping them prepare for their semester at Barnard before they leave and making sure they are supported and integrated once they arrive. She also supports the Global Symposia, as well as international faculty-led trips. Rachel is a proud Barnard graduate, having received her BA in European Studies with a focus on cultural psychology. She earned Masters in Human Development and Social Intervention from NYU Steinhardt in May 2012.

Laura Paine joined the International Programs office in July 2010. Laura is the first point of contact for all student, parent and program communication regarding study abroad, and handles scheduling and communication for the Dean for Study Abroad, and is involved in all day-to-day operations of International Programs.
