Weather Update

Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.  

Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information. 

The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9.  The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.  

Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed.  The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open.  For further updates on college operations, please check this website, call the College Emergency Information Line 212-854-1002 or check AM radio station 1010WINS.

How to Apply

Applications are due March 1, 2013.  All application materials must be received and your application fee has been processed before the admissions process is initiated. Admission is selective, and is based on strong academic records, an essay, and a letter of good standing from your university.  Applicants must have completed one year of university before applying.

All application materials must be submitted via RegOnline.

All uploaded materials must be saved as either a “.doc” or “.pdf” and must be titled “Last Name_First Name_Type of Document” (for example, “Smith_Jane_Essay”).  A completed application includes:

  • Completed Application  and non-refundable registration fee of $75 payable by credit card.  If there is any issue paying by credit card, please contact oip@banard.edu
  • CV (uploaded to RegOnline)
  • Completed Essay (uploaded to RegOnline). Topic is write about a contemporary woman leader from your home country and how she inspires you.  You cannot be related to this woman. 500 word limit.
  • TOEFL or IELTS Score Report (uploaded to RegOnline) (This is not required for students who attend university in an English speaking country or who are native English speakers)
  • University Transcript (uploaded to RegOnline)
  • Letter of good standing from your university.  Letter must have contact information and signature of office who produced the letter.  (uploaded to RegOnline or the University Office/Administrator can send it directly to oip@barnard.edu)
