J. PAUL GETTY TRUST
1. POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS

Award: $22,000 stipend for a 12-month period (non-residential)
Supports outstanding scholars in the early stages of their careers to pursue interpretative research projects on topics that make a substantial and original contribution to the understanding of art and its history. Fellowships are reserved for scholars of all nationalities whose have received their doctoral degree no earlier than 1999. Candidates who hold doctorates outside of art history are eligible to apply if they can demonstrate that their work promises to make a substantial and original contribution to the discipline of art history.
2. COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH GRANTS

Provides opportunities for teams of scholars to pursue interpretative research projects that offer new explanations of art and its history. Teams may consist of two or more art historians, or of an art historian and one or more scholars from other disciplines.
