AMERICAN ANTIQUARIAN SOCIETY

AMERICAN PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY

The Society is particularly interested in supporting the work of young scholars who have recently received their PhDs. The Franklin program is particularly designed to help meet the costs of travel to libraries and archives for research purposes; the purchase of microfilm, photocopies, or equivalent research materials; the costs associated with fieldwork; or laboratory research expenses.

BLAKEMORE FOUNDATION

1. Freeman Fellowships

The Blakemore Foundation makes grants each year for the advanced study of modern Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Southeast Asian languages. The grants, which fund a year of advanced language study at an institution in Asia, are intended for those pursuing professional, academic or business careers that involve the regular use of an Asian language. The grants cover tuition and a stipend for related educational expenses, basic living costs and transportation, but do not include dependent expenses. Only U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. are eligible to apply.

CARNEGIE MELLON CENTER FOR THE ARTS IN SOCIETY

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS

Scholars and artists who have received their terminal degree within the last seven years in any field of humanistic inquiry or artistic endeavor eligible to apply. Applications should address the issue of “arts in society” offering a unique interdisciplinary perspective on the topic. A research proposal and a suggested course should demonstrate this perspective.

DAVID ROCKEFELLER CENTER FOR LATIN AMERICAN STUDIES

VISITING SCHOLARS AND FELLOWS

Each semester, the Center selects a number of distinguished scholars and professionals, many from Latin America, to spend a minimum of one semester at Harvard working on their own research and writing projects, making use of the University's extensive library resources, participating in the Center's conferences and seminars and interacting with faculty and students.

Supports young scholars in the behavioral and social sciences and allied professional fields in their research on the development, early education, and health needs of immigrant children from birth to age 10, particularly those who are living in low-income families. NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MUSIC

Michael Ludwig Nemmers Prize in Musical Composition

In addition to showing highest-level achievement in a substantial and continuing body of work, nominees must have significantly influenced the field of composition. Recipient will be expected to complete four nonconsecutive weeks of residency at Northwestern University School of Music. The program enables democracy activists, practitioners, scholars, and journalists from around the world to deepen their understanding of democracy and enhance their ability to promote democratic change. Supports research done by scholars at the Rockefeller Archive Center, which contains records of the Rockefeller family, the Rockefeller Foundation, Rockefeller University, and other affiliates.
