Ayanna Hall ’15 honors Oprah Winfrey at Governors Awards ceremony

On November 12 at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences 2011 Governors Awards ceremony in Hollywood, California, Ayanna Hall ’15 spoke in honor of legendary talk-show host Oprah Winfrey, who received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award that night.  As a high school student, Hall received a scholarship from the Oprah Winfrey Foundation, and in her speech noted how significant Ms. Winfrey's support has been in her life. An excerpt:

"This is a woman who put me through high school, allowed me to be the very best me while I was there and reach for the goals that I never thought possible until now. ...On behalf of the more than 65,000 other students she has sent to school: the word is inadequate, Ms. Winfrey, but thank you."

Watch Hall's full speech on the Academy of Motion Pictures website. Below, Hall is pictured with Karen Reisler '81 and Paulette Bartlett '83, who were also in attendance.
