Barnard is partnering with the Sister Colleges and the U.S. Department of State for The Women and Public Service Initiative. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made the announcement during the "Women in the World Stories and Solutions" conference, sponsored by Newsweek and The Daily Beast. Watch the video.
As reported in The Chronicle of Higher Education and The Boston Globe, the initiative will work to advance women's leadership in politics and governance worldwide. This fall, the State Department and the Sister Colleges will host a colloquium at Bryn Mawr, convening global policy makers, public officials, academics experts, and innovative thinkers to: (1) form a global network of women in public service; (2) draw attention to the need to train and uplift a new generation of female political leaders; (3) advance partnerships, including an annual summer institute on public service and political leadership for young women from around the world.
