Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.
Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information.
The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9. The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.
Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed. The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open. Barnard's New York City Civic Engagement Program (NYCCEP) is pleased to announce that the college has been named a Certifying Organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award, a national program recognizing Americans who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteer service.
As a Certifying Organization for the award, NYCCEP is responsible for verifying service hours, nominating potential recipients and delivering the award. NYCCEP will certify service hours for Barnard students, alumnae, and faculty and staff. Each award recipient will receive an official President’s Volunteer Service Award lapel pin, a personalized certificate of achievement, and a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States. On Thursday, October 6th, the Barnard College Community Service Fair will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Diana Center's Event Oval. More than 30 New York City-area community organizations will be there to share information on the many volunteer opportunities available on campus, around Morningside Heights and throughout the city. All students, faculty and staff at Barnard and Columbia are welcome to attend.
