On Tuesday, May 31 at 9:30 PM on Channel 13/WNET, watch "The Choreographer" a one-hour documentary on Lisa de Ribere, former NYCB and ABT dancer, as she creates a new work for dancers from Barnard.
"When choreographer Lisa deRibere was 16, she won a scholarship to study at the American School of Ballet in NYC. She danced for nine years with Balanchine, followed by six years with Baryshnikov at ABT. After a nine-year hiatus to raise two sons, she returned to dance and became a prolific choreographer with over 80 ballets to her credit. This film follows deRibere as she teaches at Barnard College in New York City, taking 11 dancers through a grueling three-month rehearsal process in preparation for performances at the Miller Theatre in New York."
Watch a preview of the documentary here.
