Crain's New York Business has named its 2011 Most Powerful Women in New York.  Two alumnae, Merryl Tisch '77, the Chancellor of the New York State Board of Regents, and former Barnard President Ellen Futter '71, now President of the Museum of Natural History, are featured.  Excerpts from the article:

"Under Ms. Futter's leadership these past 17 years, the New York museum has become one of the city's most-visited attractions; it is also a world-class research institute that grants Ph.D.'s."

"Since taking over the state's public school system in 2009, Ms. Tisch, 55, has helped New York win $696.6 million in new federal funding via the Race to the Top."
