Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.
Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information.
The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9. The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.
Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed. The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open. Barnard ranked third among small schools on Teach For America's list of colleges and universities with graduating seniors joining the organization's 2011 teaching corps. Admission to Teach For America this year was even more selective than in previous years, with a record 48,000 individuals applying to join and an 11 percent acceptance rate. Congratulations to the 21 members of Barnard's Class of 2011 who will spend the next two years teaching in underserved schools around the country!
For the past four years, Barnard has ranked among the top five contributing colleges and universities of its size. Throughout Teach For America's 20-year history, over 130 Barnard alumnae have taught as corps members.
