Weather Update

Due to the storm, Barnard College closed at 4pm Friday, for non-essential personnel. “Essential personnel" include staff in Facilities, Public Safety and Residence Halls.  

Friday evening and weekend classes are cancelled but events are going forward as planned unless otherwise noted. The Athena Film Festival programs are also scheduled to go forward as planned but please check http://athenafilmfestival.com/ for the latest information. 

The Barnard Library and Archives closed at 4pm Friday and will remain closed on Saturday, Feb. 9.  The Library will resume regular hours on Sunday opening at 10am.  

Please be advised that due to the conditions, certain entrances to campus may be closed.  The main gate at 117th Street & Broadway will remain open.  For further updates on college operations, please check this website, call the College Emergency Information Line 212-854-1002 or check AM radio station 1010WINS.

Discounts for Employees

There are a number of local and national businesses that offer a discount to Barnard employees. In addition, some discounts are available throughBarnard benefit plans. Below is a listing of discounts and related resources. Aetna Discount Programs

There are a number of discounts available to faculty, administrators and confidential employees who are members of the Aetna Dental Plan. Some of the discounts available include MayoClinic Bookstore; Waterpik®; Salon Wish; eDiets®; Jenny Craig®; Nutrisystem®; and Zagat®.  For a complete list of discounts, please visit Aetna.com. GHI Good Health Incentives Discount Program

There are a number of discounts available to employees who are members of the GHI Health Plans. Oxford Healthy Bonus Member Discounts

There are a number of discounts available to faculty, administrators and confidential employees who are members of the Oxford Health Plans. Personal Cellular Phones

Sprint/Nextel - 23% discount on Sprint & Nextel bills. Information is available at www.evpdiscount.com/Barnard.

Verizon - Barnard College employees now qualify for great savings on Verizon Wireless phones through the Employee Value Program. Visit your EVP Verizon portal for discounted handsets for new service and upgrades.  For any questions, feel free to contact your EVP rep Andrew at  andrew@evpdiscount.com. **Please note at this time there are no monthly plan discounts for Barnard employees with Verizon, just discounted phones.**

Bronx Zoo & New York Aquarium

Discounted tickets are available for the Bronx Zoo and the New York Aquarium. Tickets must be purchased in advance by visiting https://tickets.wcs.org and entering a Store Name/Password. Please contact Human Resources (hr@barnard.edu or 212-854-2551) for the Store Name/Password.

Tickets

Discount tickets to sports, movies, theater, opera, concerts, comedy shows, and other events are available through Student Life (301 Diana Center). Please contact them directly for the latest offers at x42096.

Health Club Memberships

Miss Hall's School (Pittsfield, Massachusetts) - GIRLS LEAD Scholarship Program: Up to 50% of the MHS boarding tuition to a limited number of qualifying girls. Information on the scholarship is available from Human Resources.
 
Barnard staff members may purchase books and supplies at the Columbia University Bookstore (Barnes & Noble) and are eligible for limited discounts on purchases from the bookstore with a valid I.D. card.
