Eligibility: Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current enrollment at an accredited university for an undergraduate degree; upperclassmen preferred

  • Knowledge of local environmental issues a plus, especially stormwater and non-point source pollution, CSOs and other water quality issues

  • Desire to learn more about local environmental issues

  • Eagerness to gain experience in the environmental field and the non-profit world

  • Good research, writing and communications skills

  • Solid PC literacy, especially database management; Microsoft Access knowledge a plus

  • Team player with a positive attitude and a sense of humor

  • Flexible schedule

Compensation: This internship is unpaid.  $15 per week to cover expenses. College credit will be granted if applicable.  If student is interested, we will help fulfill college credit requirements.

Additional Notes:

Along with administrative tasks, this internship provides an opportunity for the student to conduct a research project in the area of natural resource stewardship.  Project will be determined by discussion with District staff.  The outcome of this project will be used for our programming purposes and will potentially be shared with partner organizations. 

 

Major responsibilities include:

  • Update our contact database in Microsoft Access

  • Help with the implementation of a storm-drain stenciling and public education project

  • Assist District staff with newsletter mailings and other outreach efforts

  • Assist District staff with planning and implementation of workshops

  • Conduct a research project related to stormwater/non point source pollution, NYC’s natural resources or outreach and education, designed around student’s interest and District’s need
