Eligibility:

  • U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Special funding available for
    • groups underrepresented in the sciences, math, or engineering
    • students from economically/educationally disadvantaged backgrounds
    • first generation to attend college
    • undergraduates attending schools that do not offer opportunities for independent research or mentoring by research-active faculty.
  • Priority given to applicants who will have completed at least the sophomore year by June 2004. Under unusual circumstances, we consider current first-years with outstanding credentials.
  • Minimum GPA of B (3.0/4.0), although exceptions may be granted. Note, though, that admission is highly selective.

Your are especially encouraged to apply if you are:

  • from an economically/educationally disadvantaged background
  • from groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences
  • a first generation college student student or a student who does not have opportunities for intensive research at your home university

Compensation:

  • Stipend: $3000 for 8 weeks or $3750 for 10 weeks
