Eligibility:

  • Applicants must have successfully completed an introductory psychology course and at least two psychology content courses (e.g., developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, learning, perception, physiological psychology, social psychology). Completion of a statistics course and/or a course in experimental psychology is recommended, though not required. Students completing their first year of undergraduate training and those graduating in the year preceding the program will not be eligible, nor will those who have a cumulative grade point averge below a B. Preference will be given to students who plan to attend graduate school and who are highly recommended by the psychology faculty at their university.
  • Members of racial or ethnic minority groups and first-generation college students are especially encouraged to apply.
  • The REU program is a 40-hour per week commitment and may obligate participants to some evening and weekend hours. Participants may not enroll in classes or have other employment during the period of the REU program.
  • NSF requires that participants in the REU program be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions

Compensation:

REU interns will receive a salary ($2400), lodging, and meals.

Lodging/Meals

Interns will stay in a dormatory on WKU's campus and will be provided with a food allowance. The dormatory is located in close proximity to psychology laboratories and to the downtown area of Bowling Green. 

Travel Allowance

Limited funds will be available for reimbursement of expenses associated with travel to a conference to present research findings. Receipts for all expenses must be included in the request for reimbursement.
