| THE INSTITUTE FOR URBAN EDUCATION
(IUE) was established in 1993 in a pioneering initiative to combat a perennial shortage of
skilled teachers in urban Americas schools. The Institute was designed by Dr. Susan Riemer Sacks of Barnard College and The Consortium for Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE), a team of faculty members from 17 premier liberal arts colleges and universities. Its principal goal is to recruit and prepare a new corps of skilled teachers for the nations cities. IUE also serves to enrich the educational experiences of students from seven New York City public schools. |
