Finding a book about a person or a subject: start with a Keyword search using the most distinctive words associated with the topic. Then look for useful subject headings and do a Subject search.

connecting to CATNYP, you can choose to search the Dance Collection exclusively.
Databases & Indexes: for locating periodical &journal articles
On the A-Z list of all databases, which you can access from the Barnard Library home page or Columbia LibraryWeb, there are links to many indexes which give citations, abstracts and some full-text for articles in various disciplines. Many databases have e-links which will search to see if the full-text of a particular item is available online through CULibrary Web. If you are unable to locate an item full-text search CLIO directly for the journal title.

Full-text reviews of the performing
arts are available in the Guided News Search under "Arts & Sports News" - select
"Entertainment News" or
"Book, Movie and Play Reviews". You may also search the newspapers for
reviews by choosing "General News". The New York Times, from
1980 to present, as well as many other newspapers are included.

Online journal articles and citations,

Select historical newspapers by clicking on
"Databases selected", then select the appropriate newspapers. Includes the full
text of the New York Times from 1857-2001, the LA Times from
