Consultation Request Form
| Current
members of the Barnard and Columbia community are
welcome to make an appointment for a one-on-one
consultation with a Barnard reference librarian.
This service, which is
intended for library users who need in-depth, advanced
help with their research, can provide |
- instruction in
creating effective research strategies;
- help with
identifying the best resources, in print or online;
- uninterrupted time
with a reference librarian.
|
| Faculty
and other researchers may also find it useful to request |
- an in-depth
introduction to a particular library resource;
- an overview of new
resources in a particular subject area.
|
Time
Considerations: Because of the preparation time
required by the librarian, appointments are generally
scheduled about seven days after the submission of the
request. Therefore, a consultation might be most
useful if you are working on a long-term or major research
project, particularly if you have reached a point where you
feel "stuck" or cannot find the resources you need.
If you
have an immediate research need, or
are just starting
your research and need general help, please
come directly to the Reference
Desk during
reference hours, call the
Reference Desk at 212-854-3953, or use the online chat
service

To request a
consultation, please fill out the form below and click on
"Submit" to e-mail it to the Reference Department.
Sometimes
library users request more than one consultation around the
same time; it would be useful for us to know that before
setting up appointments. If you think you need to request
two consultations for different projects, please complete
two forms, but mention it in the Comments box.
