 The CLIO
Online Tutorial

Clio, the Muse of History

Welcome to the CLIO Tutorial

This tutorial will help you to learn the basics of searching CLIO, the online catalog shared by the libraries of Columbia University.
You can work through the tutorial at your own pace; it should take you roughly an hour.

CLIO contains more than 4 million records for over 92% of the Libraries' collections, including records for electronic books and journals with links to the online full text. CLIO does not contain the records of the Law Library, Jewish Theological Seminary, or Teachers College.

If the CLIO screen remains unused for 10 minutes, it times out, and the user has to re-start it.

For more help with searching CLIO, use the  button at the top of the CLIO screen,
or click on in the top left hand corner to use the Ask Us Now chat reference service (Monday-Friday 1-5pm).
