Please Won't You Be My Intern?
Looking for a library school field work or practicum?
Come work with a unique collection at the Barnard College Library.
The Barnard Library Zine Librarian seeks an intern to assist in developing, maintaining, and promoting the existing zine collection. This is a great opportunity for students with an interest in academic libraries and special collections.
Barnard’s zines enhance the library’s Women’s Studies collection, and focus in particular on Third Wave Feminism. They include the highest quality personal and political writing and art from urban women, especially New Yorkers, and women of color. The term "woman" applies to anyone who self-identifies as such.
The Zine Collection requires an intern who can work independently, is self-guided and creative, and has an interest in the mission of the Collection. Knowledge of zines and DIY grassroots publication is extremely helpful.
Possible projects include event planning, catalog maintenance, outreach to faculty and students, publicity, writing articles, and the creation of print and digital materials (subject guides, exhibits). All ideas will be entertained.
