Commencement 2016 | SLIDESHOW

By Alia Persico-Shammas ’16

Exceptional leaders who have shaped politics, advocacy, literature, and science joined the Class of 2016 to celebrate at this year’s commencement. Anne-Marie Slaughter, president and CEO of the think tank New America, delivered the keynote address, in which she discussed the nature of contemporary feminism. Slaughter received Barnard’s medal of distinction alongside internationally acclaimed author and MacArthur Fellow Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, public policy advocate Sister Simone Campbell, and Turing Award-winning computer scientist Shafi Goldwasser.

See an archive of the day, including video of the addresses, a slideshow and a video of reflections from our graduates in the Commencement archives.
