INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT:
MULTIMEDIA CLASSROOMS and EQUIPMENT SERVICES
Media Services provides instructional support by maintaining and operating multi-media classrooms throughout the Barnard campus, and by sending audiovisual equipment to classrooms with no in-room system. Faculty members who are scheduled to use multi-media classrooms should request an orientation to the room prior to the beginning of classes. For rooms without equipment, we send student operators to do projections, videotapings, and the like.
Equipment or services may be requested in writing, by e-mail (media@barnard.edu), or by phone (854-2418) during business hours: 9 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday. Advance notice is recommended for equipment loans. Requests for services that require an operator should be sent one week in advance. Same day requests cannot be met. If you are providing your laptop for a presentation, or have specific set-up needs, please schedule a run-through with a staff member.
The Media Center in the library offers a large classroom/studio; a Public Media Area with individual viewing, listening, and digital editing stations; and production and post-production services. We also lend audio and video taping equipment to faculty and students for instructional and academic use. For information on the multimedia workstations in the public media area, please read our user guide or guide for Visual Arts/Art History students.
To book classrooms, please contact the Barnard Registrar (854-2011) or Room Reservations (854-7005). For non-instructional media needs, please contact the A/V unit of Special Events Department (854-3021). |
