Lynn Owen (voice) holds a BS,
and MS from the Juilliard School and pursued
advanced study as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Vienna Akademie
fur Musik and Salzburg Mozarteum. Her international opera career of over
fifty roles included the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna, Zurich, Hamburg,
Frankfurt, Mexico (Bellas Artes), Caracas, Los Angeles and Canadian Opera,
principally in works by Verdi, Puccini, Wagner, Strauss and Mozart. She
sang in premiere performances of Egon Wellesz' Alkestis, Richard Strauss'
Agyptische Helena and Henze, Nachtstucke und Arien, as well as seven
premieres by Richard Owen including the 2003 performance of "RAIN"
at Alice
Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. She has been nominated for a Grammy award
for
her CD, "Vienna to Broadway "and has been a regular featured
cabaret
performer at the Oak Room of the Algonquin Hotel. Conductors under whom
she has sung include, Conlon, Santi, Shippers, Jordan, Diemecke, and
Rudel. Ms. Owen studied voice with Freschl, Engelberg, Milanov, Hamlin,
Tourel, Likova and Goldovsky. She has been cited in Who's Who in America,
Who's Who in Music, Who's Who in Women of the World, and 2000 Notable
American Women. and is the founder and director of the Maine Opera
Company. Ms. Owen is a member of the voice faculty at the Manhattan School
of Music and has taught at Barnard and Columbia since 1984.
