Expert Ron Taffel to Present Nurturing Good Children

York, NY, January 16, 2003The Barnard Center for Toddler
Development will host Parents Magazine columnist
Dr. Ron Taffel, who will speak on Nurturing Good Children
Now: 10 Basic Skills to Protect and Strengthen Your Childs
Core Self, a presentation based on his book of the same
title. Taffel, a nationally known parenting expert who has
been called the Dr. Spock of today by New Woman Magazine,
will speak February 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the James Room of
Barnard Hall (117th St. & Broadway).
The author of five books and more than 100 articles, Taffel
has spent 25 years as a family psychologist. He holds a
doctorate in clinical psychology from New York University
and has conducted post-graduate work in family therapy,
child development, and adult psychology. He is founder and
director of the Family Therapy Division at the Institute
for Contemporary Psychotherapy in New York.
Taffels speech is the 12th Annual Lecture on Child
Development in memory of Julia Howe Ward, 1987-1989 and
is sponsored by the Barnard Center for Toddler Development.
