Best-selling Novelist and Barnard Fiction Instructor Sheri Holman to Give a Reading from Her Upcoming Novel, Feb. 4

New York, NY— Sheri Holman, author of the best-selling novel The Dress Lodger will give a reading at Barnard from her upcoming novel The Mammoth Cheese, on February 4.

Holman, whom The New York Times called an author with "an outstanding, generous, and fertile imagination", has set her new book in rural Virginia as residents re-create the making of a Thomas Jefferson-era, 1,235-pound "Mammoth Cheese." Holman weaves together lives of the town residents while delving into her characters’ family histories as they grapple with the issues of religion, divorce, politics, and unrequited love.

Holman is the author of A Stolen Tongue, which has been translated into eleven languages worldwide, and The Dress Lodger, nominated for an IMPAC Dublin Literary Award and a New York Times Notable Book of the Year in 2001.

The reading will take place in Sulzberger Parlor, 3rd Floor of Barnard Hall, Barnard College, at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The event is sponsored by the Barnard English Department. For more information, contact Timea Szell at 212-854-2115.
