Daniel J. O'Donnell Sworn-in to New York State Assembly in a Ceremony Hosted by Barnard

Daniel J. O'Donnell (right) was sworn-in as the new District 69 New York State Assemblymember in a ceremony hosted by Barnard on Saturday evening, Feb. 22. Several hundred political leaders, including U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, U.S. Rep. Jerry Nadler, State Sen. David Paterson, City Councilman Bill Perkins, joined President Judith Shapiro (left) at the ceremony, held in the McIntosh Student Center. Barnard is located in District 69 on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. President Shapiro discussed the importance of public service and told the gathering: "For those of us who are now your constituents on the Upper West Side, we know you will make a difference in our community because you have made the public interest your life's work." O'Donnell has served as a Legal Aid attorney and a leader of Community Board 9 on the Upper West Side.
