Barnard Sophomore to Compete in NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships March 17

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Lucy Eccleston, a Barnard sophomore from Stockton, California, will compete in the 200-meter butterfly competition at the NCAA Division I Championships on March 17.

She becomes the third woman in the history of the Women's Swimming and Diving team of the Columbia University/Barnard College Athletic Consortium to reach the NCAA championships.

On March 2, the Columbia Spectator named her Athlete of the Week. In the profile, Coach Diana Caskey said "her commitment is the hallmark of her success."

Eccleston, who linked her own success to that of the team, was quoted as saying, "I love going through the process of training and seeing it pay off."
