Warner Bros. Shoots TV Pilot about College Life on Campus
Warner Bros. is filming a pilot for a television show, The Bedford Diaries, on the Barnard campus. The New York City-based college drama will focus on the academic and social lives of students. The show is written and produced by Tom Fontana (St. Elsewhere, Homicide, OZ) and Barry Levinson (Rainman, Good Morning Vietnam, and Diner). The pilot shoot will be directed by Adam Bernstein, and will take place at a variety of exterior and interior locations on campus Thursday and Friday, March 10-11, and Monday and Tuesday, March 14-15.
The Bedford Diaries follows six college students as they negotiate through school, relationships and the mounting responsibility of adulthood. The show will be set at fictional NYC "Bedford College." In addition to our campus, Warner Bros. is also filming at Union Theological Seminary and several other locations in and around the New York area to create their "campus."
"Barnard is the perfect location to shoot Bedford because it has the same first and last letter and the same number of letters as in Bedford," quipped Bernstein, director of the pilot. "Barnard is also a great-looking campus, which suits our needs perfectly."
The crew consists of 75-80 production and technical assistants and actors. Warner Bros. has also hired two Barnard students as production assistants and will use a few students as extras as well.
