BARNARD SOPHOMORE TO REPRESENT US AT INTERNATIONAL GLOBAL LEADERHIP INSTITUTE
Maxine Botesazan '09 has been named one of the eight outstanding college sophomores who will represent the United States at the international Global Leadership Institute in New York this July. In this highly selective Global Leaders competition, sponsored by the Goldman Sachs Foundation and the Institute for International Education (IIE), student finalists are chosen for their distinguished academic records and their demonstrated leadership potential. The weeklong summer institute offers leadership training, seminars on international issues, the opportunity to create lasting ties with high-achieving students from many countries, and meetings with top leaders in business, government and the non-profit sector.
It's the third year in a row in which a Barnard student has been selected in this major competition. Last year, Christina Grammenos '08 was one of the eight U.S. finalists who attended the summer institute, and the year before, Eman Bataineh '07 was one of the 16 U.S. finalists named Global Leaders.
