Cheryl Milstein '82 to be Honored at Columbia's 85th Annual Varsity C Awards Celebration May 4
Cheryl ’82 BC and Philip ’71 CC Milstein to be Honored With Alumni Athletics Award
NEW YORK – Cheryl and Philip Milstein will receive the Alumni Athletics Award at Columbia University’s 85th Annual Varsity C Celebration: Saluting Our Student-athletes on Thursday, May 4 at 7 p.m. The Milsteins, who played tennis for Barnard and Columbia, are the first husband and wife to earn the Alumni Athletics Award, bestowed annually since 1941 to an ardent and loyal alumnus or alumna
who has been an outstanding contributor to Columbia Athletics for many years.
Philip Milstein, Columbia College class of 1971, is Vice Chair of the Columbia University Trustees, and serves on the Trustees Subcommittee on Athletic Affairs. Cheryl Milstein, Barnard College class of 1982, is a Trustee of Barnard College.
The Varsity C Celebration, to be held in Francis A. Levien Gymnasium in the Dodge Fitness Center on Columbia’s campus, honors Columbia University’s more than 800 current student-athletes. The event features video athletics highlights of the past year and the awarding of the athletics department’s highest honors for undergraduates: The Eisenhower and Marion R. Philips Watches, and The Connie S. Maniatty Awards.
