The Barnard 2005 Spring Party & Auction drew almost 300 alumnae and guests to Industria Superstudio in Manhattan's Meatpacking District on Tuesday night May 3.   The event honored Sheila Nevins '60, president of HBO Documentary and Family and raised $565,000 for Barnard's scholarship program.   Nevins was presented with the Iphigene Ochs Sulzberger Award by President Judith Shapiro and Anna Quindlen '74, chair of the Board of Trustees.

Shapiro praised Nevins' achievements in "showing us people, places and events as they really are, in all their depth and complexity." Throughout the night, guests bid on more than 90 items in the silent and live auctions, including tickets to sporting events, resort accommodations and unique items, such as the chance to name a character in Quindlen's next novel.   Two guests tied for that honor with $7,000 bids, and Quindlen agreed to sell the item twice.
