Barnard
Department of Architecture Student Exhibition on Display
in Barnard Hall, May 3 - 24
New
York, N.Y., May 13, 2002The annual spring student
exhibition of the Barnard Architecture department is on
display on the third floor of Barnard Hall. This years
exhibition includes work from all class levels and by both
architecture majors and non-majors. The work of the seniors
can be viewed in the third floor hallway.
"We have seven undergraduates who applied for graduate
programs and, in total, they were accepted at 17 schools.
The list of programs that accepted them is impressive: Harvard,
Columbia, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Berkeley, Penn, and many
others," said Karen Fairbanks, Director of Barnard
and Columbia Architecture, Director of Undergraduate Studies
in Architecture at Barnard and Associate Professor of Practice
in Architecture. "This show demonstrates the creative
energy of the architectural program at Barnard."
Nearly 100 students are exhibiting their work. The exhibition
consists of drawings and models from architecture design
studio majors. There is also work from non-majors who are
part of a program that was launched two years ago and from
students enrolled in a new course in digital photography,
which takes advantage of the new digital architecture computer
lab at Barnard. Senior work will be exhibited through the
graduation.
